Making a video (walking on the moon soundtrack)

Rowena acquired an iPod & explored its capabilities by insisting I took part in a video. This was created in short sections at a few locations: mostly the house kitchen; outside & inside the Lowry theatre and on a beach on the island of Iona  in Scotland. Note especially the brave attempt to swim in the Irish Sea right at the end.

Above is the result , a Quicktime movie (surely an Oscar nomination)

The summarised year 2013

2013 in pictures & short splurges of prose by a novice blogger

Main topics of the year, with hyperlinks to take you to pages with photos.
  • Planting fruit trees in February, in the dark
  • Skiing with Rowena in the Italian Dolomites
  • In March my employer announced they will be closing the site I work on & relocating to Cambridge by end 2016
  • Created a "My last 100 Munros" blog. Still trying to master it & catch up
  • Spreading pony pooh on our garden the same day that the neighbours had a party BBQ.
  • I was regularly running 5000m (built up to 3 times a week until May) until my knees let me down, literally.
  • Holiday on the Isle of Mull (no peaks due to damaged knees), where the video that had been cooking for weeks was completed (note re-wrenching of shoulder that had been receiving physiotherapy)
  • The girls went to Paris with school on consecutive weekends. Waited 3am to 4.30 am for one coach return.
  • Walked the 3 Peaks of North Yorkshire for the third time
  • Harvests of gooseberries & blackcurrants from the back garden (raspberries dried in the summer heat)
  • Walked the Grey corries & nearby peaks in Scotland in the hottest weather (lots of horseflies)
  • Trip to Cambridge, Cambridge folk festival, then Canterbury, Hastings. Extremely hot.
  • Trips to London for Penny's 50th (Pompeii exhibition, Houses of Parliament tour, dinner at the Savoy)
  • Some limited success in growing tomatoes
  • Rowena started GCSEs, and Clara started playing "full contact" rugby.
  • In September my employer announced an acceleration of the "UK footprint" programme ie: moving to Cambridge earlier than announced.
  • Walked the South Cluanie ridge in October (7 Munros in one go).
  • Grew a moustache for Movember. Very pleased when I shaved itoff
  • In November my department announced a major reduction in numbers, and invited applications for voluntary redundancy to start Feb 2014. Looking forward to doing something different.
  • Started a course at Manchester University in Health Informatics: I am officially a student again, including NUS card.
